Our Company
Fitzgerald Power had its beginnings in SA in the early nineties. In response to Government and industry pressure the energy distributor ETSA called for expressions of interest to establish an alternative labour source for URD work. Our company Utilink Pty Ltd, was chosen as one of the two companies best qualified for this task.
In 1996 we expanded to Darwin and formed Utilink NT which became the first accredited contractor to work for Power & Water Authority (PAWA). We worked hand in hand with that company and the developers Delfin to provide head works and under ground reticulation for the hundreds of new homes being built in and around Darwin.
In 2002 we moved some of our workforce to Cairns and started work as a direct contractor to Ergon, providing underground resources and skills for all types of underground distribution work. The success of that venture and the demand for our services led to the further expansion of our business and we have worked as a subcontractor to Ergon through contracts with Thiess in Cairns and Mackay, in Gladstone and Hervey Bay with Electrix, and in Brisbane again with Electrix providing resources to Energex.
In 2007 we formed a joint venture with Electrix and were successful in winning a major tender to provide overhead and underground distribution services to Ergon in Far North Queensland. We have just completed 500 days of a two + 1+1 contract with no lost time injuries.
Since the introduction of contestability into the residential underground distribution market, we have formed strong relationships with developers and civil contractors alike, who respect our timeliness, quality of work and reliability.
Our company has an A contractor rating with Ergon and we pride ourselves on our achievements in three states, where we have been recognized for the timely delivery of service, our excellent safety record, the quality of our work and the innovation we have introduced to URD work and practices. We acknowledge this has been achieved through the skills and motivation of our excellent staff.
